n 2008, Boris Penth made a film about the life and work of Sogyal Rinpoche. The film played at International Buddhist Film Festivals in Amsterdam & London as well as playing at a number of other venues. The film offers glimpses of Rinpoche’s background as he describes his early life and influences, and introduces Rinpoche’s unique yet authentic presentation of the teachings of the Buddha. As well as interviews with Sogyal Rinpoche the film also includes interviews with Professor Samdhong Rinpoche (the then prime minister of the Tibetan government in exile), Sogyal Rinpoche’s brother Thigyal Lakar, English actor and comedian John Cleese, and others.
We have just discovered this 1 hour documentary, Ancient Wisdom for the Modern World (below), which was made from the film.
You can also find out more about the film, ”Compassion, Wisdom and Humour” and read an interview with the film makers.
